You can smell Lyons before you see it on this particular September Saturday. The 7th Annual Garlic Day brings dozens of garlic varieties — hardneck and softneck, mild to spicy — to the farmers market at 26 Church Street, alongside garlic braiding demonstrations, fermented garlic tastings, and a booth staffed by David Stern, a founder of the Garlic Seed Federation, where you can ask anything you've ever wondered about growing and eating garlic. It runs early, alongside the full Lyons Farmers' Market with some 50 vendors, in a walkable canal-town setting just east of Rochester.
