What's Happening

Rose Hill Mansion stands at the edge of Seneca Lake like it has always been waiting for you to sit down at a properly set table. On September 19, Historic Geneva is hosting an Afternoon Tea at Rose Hill with a theme that turns out to be unexpectedly compelling: Mourning Customs of the 1860s. Victorian mourning was elaborate and full of ritual — black silk, jet jewelry, specific timelines for returning to society after loss. There is something about learning this in a room that has held generations of families that makes it feel less like a history lesson and more like a conversation across time. Tickets are limited and the sale closes a week before, so this is the kind of event to book early.
