The gardens of the Seward House Museum in Auburn have hosted many kinds of history. On August 13, they become an outdoor theater — with Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew performed in the open air behind one of the most significant 19th-century homes in the Finger Lakes.
The Seward House was home to William Henry Seward, Lincoln's Secretary of State and the man behind the Alaska Purchase. The gardens are beautiful. Adding Shakespeare to the setting is a genuinely lovely idea.
